A groundbreaking collaboration between Komunidad, a climate action management company, and Aloi, a digital disbursement platform, is set to revolutionize disaster response in the Philippines.
Komunidad Partners Aloi
This partnership aims to empower local governments and organizations with anticipatory systems that seamlessly link crucial climate data with fast, trackable financial support for vulnerable communities.
Pioneering a Forward-Looking Approach in the Philippines
Announced on July 9, 2025, from Singapore, this initiative will pilot a proactive approach to disaster response. It uniquely combines real-time early warning systems with cashless, accountable disbursement tools, specifically designed to help local government units (LGUs) act before disasters strike.
In its initial phase, the project will focus on developing a system for automated weather-triggered cash relief, targeting low-income and informal workers in areas highly susceptible to floods and typhoons. By delivering aid directly through mobile wallets upon verified climate alerts, the collaboration aims to significantly cut down response times and enhance transparency in disaster risk management.
Bridging the Gap Between Warning and Response
“Climate action is no longer just about forecasting—it’s about enabling early, data-driven decisions that save lives and protect livelihoods,” states Allister Ayque, Co-Founder and COO of Komunidad. He emphasizes that their partnership with Aloi effectively “brings climate intelligence and financial technology together to bridge the gap between warning and response.”
Tiffany Tong, Co-Founder and CEO of Aloi, echoes this sentiment, highlighting a core belief: “We believe that aid should be delivered with speed, dignity, and full accountability.” She adds, “Together with Komunidad, we’re turning forecasts into timely financial action, enabling communities to prepare, adapt, and recover with confidence.”
Supporting Anticipatory Action and Future Expansion
This collaboration marks a significant step in supporting the growing global shift toward anticipatory action and pre-disaster financing. This move is critical as climate shocks become increasingly frequent and severe. Future phases of the partnership are set to expand coverage to microenterprises and integrate with existing social welfare programs and even insurance offerings, creating a more robust and inclusive safety net.
