By integrating sustainability into its core business operations, Kumari Bank continues to support both national and international sustainability goals through its products, processes and partnerships.
This new initiative shows the Bank’s unwavering commitment to promoting clean energy transport and reducing carbon emissions in Nepal.
The scheme has been developed in collaboration with the Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal (SET4NPL) project, supported by leading international development organizations including GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). These partnerships reflect Kumari Bank’s active role in encouraging innovation and environmental responsibility within Nepal’s financial sector.
Under the Green Hire Purchase Loan program, public transport operators (PTOs) seeking to replace their existing fossil-fuel vehicles or buy new electric mini or microbuses through Kumari Bank financing will receive a special upfront equity grant and additional subsidies for accessories, complemented by competitive interest rates on their borrowings. To qualify for these benefits, PTOs must purchase vehicles from authorized suppliers designated under the SET4NPL project.
“At Kumari Bank, we believe sustainability is not merely a value; it is our collective responsibility,” said by Mr. Arpan Paudel, Head of the Sustainable Banking Department at Kumari Bank Limited. The Green Hire Purchase Loan stands as a testament to our commitment to driving the clean energy transition through inclusive finance and strategic collaboration.
