Under the powerful slogan “Capable Leadership, Strong ECAN” (Saksham Netritwa, Sashakta ECAN), Paudel addressed a gathering of educational consultants and stakeholders on Saturday, sharing a vision rooted in two decades of professional dedication.
A Journey of Two Decades: From Member to Leader
Laxman Paudel is no stranger to the challenges and triumphs of the Nepalese educational consultancy sector. With 20 years of experience in the industry and a decade-long active journey within ECAN, his candidacy is built on a foundation of deep institutional knowledge.
“ECAN is not just an organization for me; it is a family,” Paudel stated during the event. “I have spent more than half of my career here. Today, whatever professional standing I have, I owe it to this sector.”
Paudel’s track record includes serving in various capacities, most recently as the First Vice President. He emphasized that his climb from a general member to the vice-presidency has allowed him to understand the ground realities of the 700+ members and 8 branches that make up the association.
Addressing the Challenges: Moving Toward a Dignified Profession
Acknowledging that the sector currently faces several hurdles, Paudel used a poignant metaphor to describe the current state of the industry: “Just as you cannot hide the sun with your palm, we cannot ignore the problems existing in this sector.”
His election manifesto focuses on three core pillars for the future of ECAN:
Systematic Management: Transitioning from an unorganized sector to a strictly regulated and professional industry.
Dignity and Respect: Ensuring that educational consultants are viewed as respected professionals by the government and the public.
Institutional Role: Strengthening ECAN’s involvement in the licensing, renewal, and grievance management processes to protect both consultants and students.
The Vision for ECAN 2026 (2082)
Laxman Paudel’s roadmap for the upcoming term includes simplifying the bureaucratic hurdles related to business permits and renewals.
He argued that ECAN must become a bridge between the government and consultancy firms to ensure fair monitoring and effective regulation.
“Our goal is to make this profession not just managed, but honored,” he added. “The trust you showed in me when I was elected Vice President is what drives me to take on this bigger responsibility.”
