Leapmotor Hits 1 Million EV
25th September 2025, Kathmandu
In a remarkable feat of engineering and market acceleration, Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Leapmotor has officially announced a significant EV milestone: the production of its 1 millionth vehicle.
Leapmotor Hits 1 Million EV
This achievement, reached just six years after its founding, is particularly notable for the company’s recent rapid production growth. It took Leapmotor 343 days to produce its last 500,000 vehicles, a pace that highlights the company’s exponential scaling and growing influence in the global EV market.
This impressive achievement makes Leapmotor the second startup to reach this milestone, reinforcing its position as a key player in the new energy vehicle sector.
A Journey of Exponential Growth
Founded in 2017, Leapmotor’s first car, the T03, rolled off the production line in June 2019. It took the company five years to produce its first 500,000 vehicles.
However, the last 500,000 units were produced in just under a year, a clear indicator of the company’s accelerating momentum. This surge in production is fueled by the brand’s growing popularity and a strategic push to meet the soaring demand for electric vehicles, especially in the vast Chinese market.
The company’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Zhu Jiangming, has expressed ambitious plans to produce another 1 million vehicles in the coming year, signaling a strong belief in continued growth.
The company’s success has also attracted international attention. Last year, Stellantis, one of the world’s largest automotive groups, acquired a partial ownership stake in Leapmotor.
This partnership is expected to further enhance Leapmotor’s global distribution and production capabilities, allowing it to penetrate new markets with greater efficiency.
The company has already expanded its sales and service network to over 30 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, a testament to its global ambitions.
Global Sales and Market Penetration
Leapmotor’s sales figures reflect its impressive production ramp-up. In August, the company sold 57,066 vehicles worldwide. Of these, 51,162 units were sold within China alone, demonstrating strong domestic market dominance.
The company’s year-to-date global sales from January to August stand at 320,000 vehicles, with 289,732 units delivered in China. These numbers indicate a strong and consistent sales performance, a key factor behind the company’s rapid growth.
The company’s current lineup in China includes seven different models, with a new hatchback model, the LaFa 5, also in the pipeline. This wide range of models, from compact city cars to SUVs, caters to a broad spectrum of customer needs and preferences, contributing to its market share growth.
Leapmotor’s Presence in Nepal
The impact of Leapmotor’s global success is also being felt in Nepal. Shangrila Motors is the sole authorized distributor of Leapmotor vehicles in the country, bringing these technologically advanced EVs to Nepali consumers.
The availability of these vehicles marks a significant step for the Nepal EVs market, offering new options and competitive pricing.
Currently, several Leapmotor models are available in Nepal, including the C10, T03, and the recently launched B10. To celebrate the festive season and attract more customers, Shangrila Motors has introduced special offers.
The C10, originally priced at NPR 7.2 million, is now available for NPR 6.5 million. The T03 has also seen a price reduction from NPR 3.4 million to NPR 2.8 million.
The brand-new B10, priced at NPR 6 million, is now being offered for an attractive NPR 5.7 million under the festive scheme. These offers make high-tech, long-range EVs more accessible to the Nepali public, encouraging a broader adoption of electric mobility and contributing to a greener future.
