Mahabir Pun Interacts With ICT Students

On 22nd April 2016, Mahathir Pun was invited as the guest speaker to interact with the students.

The program was divided into two sessions. In the first half of the program, Mahathir Pun shared his experience with the students. He shared about his up and downs in life, his achievements, and his plans for future Nepal.

He focused on Entrepreneurship and also urged students to dream big by quoting Tony A. Gaskins Jr. “If you don’t build your dream, someone else will hire you to help them build their “ he urged all students to dream big.

The second part of the session included the demonstration of various projects by the students of DWIT.

Mr. Pun was very excited and impressed to see all the projects and assured us that we would again visit the college to see more of the projects.

About Mahabir Pun

Mahabir Pun is a Nepalese teacher known for his extensive work in applying wireless technologies to develop remote areas of the Himalayas. Pun was born and raised in Nangi of Myagdi District.

He completed his high school education from Nepal and then Graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Science Education. After returning to Nepal, he founded Himachal High school with a particular focus on computer education. Since then he has been working to promote wireless technologies and IT in different remote places of Nepal.

In 2002 Ashoka Foundation, the global association of leading social entrepreneurs elected him an Ashoka Fellow. He was awarded the Magsaysay Award in 2007 for his innovative application of wireless technologies in Nepal.
