According to the Cybersecurity firm huntress, more than 1,000 businesses had been stricken by ransomware attacks.
Which had focused on managed service providers which give IT services primarily to medium size and tiny size businesses. A cybersecurity researcher at huntress labs, Mr john said “more than 20 MSPs are affected”.
But the impact of the attack is just getting down to become known. Meanwhile, In Sweden, a majority of grocery chain Coop’s over 800 stores could not open on Saturday after the attack led to a malfunction of their cash registers. per research published by cybersecurity firm ESET, 11 countries were victimized by that ransomware attack.
According to Cybersecurity experts, the hacker appears to own targeted Kaseya Ltd., which is a Miami-based developer of software for managed service providers, as some way to attack its customers.
What makes this attack stand out is that the trickle-down effect, from the managed service provider to the little business, Cybersecurity researcher Mr. Hammond said “Kaseya handles large enterprise all the way to small businesses globally, so ultimately, it’s the potential to spread to any size or scale business.”
Kaseya said it’s notified the FBI. the company said it had to this point identified but 40 customers were impacted by the attack.
Two of the affected MSPs include Synnex Corp. and Avtex LLC, per two people familiar with the breaches. Avtex President George Demou told Bloomberg News in an exceedingly text message on Friday night, “Hundreds of MSPs are impacted by a world Supply Chain hack.”
