In just its second year of operation, Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST) has established itself as a leading research-driven institution in Nepal.

Established in Shrawan 2079 (August 2022), the university has already secured millions in research grants, launched cutting-edge projects, and positioned itself as a key player in science, technology, and sustainable development.

MBUST has made waves in Nepal’s academic and scientific community with multiple high-impact research projects funded by national and international organizations:

NPR 2.8 Million in Grants from MoEST

Six MBUST researchers secured competitive grants from Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MoEST) for pioneering studies, including:

Dr. Kirti Kusum Joshi – Sustainable construction using traditional gravel-mud techniques

Dr. Bhushan Shrestha – Healthcare products from Nepal’s medicinal mushrooms

Dr. Sabina Shrestha – Natural food coloring from Chitlang’s plants

Dr. Sarvesh Das Dongol – Disease detection in indigenous millet & rice

Dr. Rejan Maharjan – AI-powered plastic waste management

Dr. Jhasnath Adhikari Subin – Molecular docking & ligand database development

NPR 1.2 Million from NAST for Young Scientists

Dr. Sarvesh Das Dongol secured funding for in vitro polymerase production under NAST’s Young Scientists Program.

International Recognition: NPR 2.5 Million from the Bahay Foundation (Philippines)

Dr. Kishor Timilsina received a grant for eco-friendly, disaster-resistant housing using sustainable materials.
