Following the meeting, Minister Kharel briefed the press about several key decisions.

According to him, the government has decided to provide relief to the families of Nepali citizens who lost their lives during the demonstrations of Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082.

Except for prisoners and juvenile detainees who died while attempting to escape, each identified deceased’s family will receive NPR 1 million as financial assistance. In addition, NPR 500,000 will be provided to cover funeral rites, food, and transportation expenses.

The meeting also approved the Security Printing Regulations 2082, introduced to implement provisions under the Security Printing Act 2081.

Similarly, under the Press and Publication Act 2048, the Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting has been designated as the local authority for registering online media outlets.

With this decision, the registration and renewal process of online media will now be carried out directly through the Department of Information, instead of the District Administration Office.
