Ministry of Communication To Enhance IDMC With Permanent Staff and Software Upgrades For Improved Digital Services

The Nepal Government has announced the addition of permanent positions in the Integrated Data Management Center (IDMC). This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal on Monday.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology will enhance the capacity of the IDMC by adding permanent staff and upgrading its operations. The initiative aims to strengthen the systems for service delivery and performance management through digital platforms. Additionally, the ministry plans to upgrade the software currently in use.

The meeting also decided that all government agencies will adopt the Unified Website Management System developed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, which will streamline the management and updates of official websites.

Moreover, a task force has been formed to address issues related to the security and use of government email systems. This task force, headed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, includes the Head of the IT Department at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Director General of the Department of Information Technology.

The task force is expected to prepare a strategic action plan, which will be presented at the upcoming secretaries’ meeting. This plan will provide recommendations for improving the security and functionality of the government’s email system and other IT infrastructure.

The government’s efforts to modernize its IT systems and enhance digital services demonstrate its commitment to improving efficiency and transparency in public service delivery.
