MoEST Nepal Announces University-Level STEAM Competition 2082: Up to NPR 1.5 Lakh Grant for Innovation

The Government of Nepal’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has officially launched the University-Level Competitive Program on STEAM Subjects for the Fiscal Year 2082/083.
MoEST University-Level STEAM Competition
This highly anticipated program aims to foster innovation and practical skill development by inviting higher education students to compete in the construction of original STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) materials.
This initiative is a major step by the Ministry to engage the nation’s brightest young minds in creating tangible, educational products and contributing to the advancement of technology and arts in Nepal.
Program Overview and Objectives
The competitive program is designed to unleash the creative and technical potential of students across the country.
Who Can Apply
Students or student groups currently enrolled in higher education levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) at universities, or their constituent/affiliated campuses, colleges, or institutions.
The Challenge
Participants must focus on developing innovative STEAM materials. The specific subject for this year’s competition is detailed in the Terms of Reference (T.O.R.) under Annex-5 of the working procedure.
Goal
To stimulate the construction of locally relevant and high-quality educational and technical materials.
Two-Phase Selection Process and Development Timeline
The competition follows a rigorous two-phase selection process to ensure the most promising ideas receive support:
Phase 1 (Concept Submission)
Students must submit their detailed concept papers in the prescribed format (Sections A and B of Annex-2). This initial application is the basis for shortlisting.
Phase 2 (Material Construction)
Selected student groups will be given a period of five (5) months to bring their approved concepts to life and construct the final STEAM product.
Financial Support for Innovation
To facilitate the development of high-quality materials, the MoEST is providing substantial financial assistance to the shortlisted groups.
Grant Amount
Each selected student or student group will be provided a support amount of up to Nepali Rupees 1,50,000 (One Lakh Fifty Thousand) per material.
Procedure
This funding is provided in accordance with the “Working Procedure for Conducting University-Level Competitive Program on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STEAM) Subjects, 2082.”
