Smartphones have varied a lot in the 2010s and the apps used on these devices have had a similar history. Smartphones are now seen as the most device for popular social media and chatting apps on the Internet. People have downloaded social networking apps the most. Likewise, music and video uploading apps have been downloaded extensively.
The most downloaded app in the last decade is Facebook. The other three apps under the same company are among the most downloaded apps. Apart from Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram are the most downloaded apps. Following this, the most downloaded apps are Snapchat, Skype, TikTok and UC Browser.
Likewise, YouTube is ranked ninth as the most downloaded apps, while Twitter is in tenth place. All of these apps are US products except TikTok and UC Browser. However, gaming apps don’t have similar monopoly like social media apps. However, gaming apps like Candy Crush Saga, Temple Run have also been used by many in the last decade. However, other than these, gaming app PUBG Mobile has been downloaded a lot recently. Paytm and PhonePay are the most downloaded apps in Banking Category.
With the profound changes seen in mobile device and app development throughout the 2010s, we can only imagine the future of such applications. Users have opted for applications that provide an easy digital alternative to their real-life problems. Application developers have kept this in mind and have switched/updated their User-Interface and working to gain maximum popularity among users. The changes seen in Smartphones over the past 10 years can only be an indication of what the future may hold.
