Mr. Chet Prasad Uprety, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank has been appointed as the Chairman of Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL) by the last Board of NCHL.

He took the Oath as the Chairman from the Deputy Governor, Mr. Bam Bahadur Mishra on 21st May, 2025. Before Mr. Uprety, Mr. Vishrut Thapa, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, was representing NRB at the Board of NCHL.
Mr. Uprety has rich experience of over 27 years at various departments of Nepal Rastra Bank. He holds MBA degree from Tribhuvan University. He is currently the Executive Director of Non-Bank Financial Institutions Supervision Department at NRB.
NCHL board includes representatives from NRB, commercial banks, development banks, finance companies and an independent director. NCHL is a public limited company promoted by NRB and majority of the banks & financial institutions, which has established multiple national payment and settlement systems in Nepal.

Mr. Uprety
Mr. Uprety’s extensive career at NRB includes significant contributions to financial regulation and policy development. Notably, he authored a chapter titled “Basel III Implementation: Challenges and Opportunities in Nepal,” published by The SEACEN Centre, reflecting his expertise in banking regulation and risk management.
Mr. Uprety’s leadership at both NRB and NCHL underscores his pivotal role in advancing Nepal’s financial sector, particularly in enhancing regulatory frameworks and promoting digital payment solutions.
