Mugu’s J.P. Memorial Cup Final: A-One FC Triumphs, Fostering Youth Sports

The First J.P. Memorial Cup Football Tournament-2082 concluded with a spectacular final in Mugu’s district headquarters, Gamgadhi.
Mugu’s J.P. Memorial Cup Final
In a hard-fought and memorable match, A-One Football Club (A-One FC) secured the inaugural title, defeating Kache Football Club (Kache FC) with a narrow score of 3-2.
The competition, held during the Tihar holiday period, brought high-quality football entertainment to the region, despite being played on the temporary grounds of Mahakali Model Secondary School, highlighting the local passion for the sport amidst infrastructural challenges.
The Final: A Battle of Comeback
The final, co-organized by the J.P. Memorial Committee and Chhayanath Rara Municipality, saw Kache FC take a decisive early lead with two goals in the first half.
However, A-One FC staged an impressive comeback, leveling the score in the second half. The match reached its peak of excitement when an A-One player struck the decisive third goal just before the final whistle, sealing the 3-2 victory.
The Coordinator of the Organizing Committee, Chakra Bahadur Malla, confirmed that the tournament was a great success, attracting 33 teams from Mugu and surrounding districts.
Honoring Excellence and Purpose
The victors, A-One FC, were awarded a significant cash prize of Rs. 111,100, along with the trophy, medals, and certificates. Runners-up Kache FC received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
The tournament was held in remembrance of the late Jay Prakash Malla ‘J.P.’, who made substantial contributions to the local education and sports sectors.
The primary goal of the event was to promote unity, discipline, and positive values among the youth through sports. The organizers have pledged to make this memorial cup an annual and more expansive event in the future.
