Nabil Bank Remains Open
Nabil Bank has issued an important notice to its customers regarding its operations on Friday, September 12, 2025 (Bhadra 27, 2082). In response to the prevailing security challenges and national unrest, the bank has decided to provide essential banking services at a select number of branches in the Kathmandu Valley. The operational hours for these branches will be a restricted window from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a temporary measure designed to ensure the safety of both its customers and staff. This move is consistent with the strategies being adopted by other major financial institutions in Nepal to maintain critical services during a time of national crisis.
Strategic Branches in the Kathmandu Valley
To ensure a broad reach and accessibility for its customers, Nabil Bank has strategically selected a number of key locations within Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur to remain operational. The branches open for services are:
- Kathmandu: Tindhara, Bhatbhateni, and Halchowk
- Bhaktapur: Kaushaltar and Suryavinayak
- Lalitpur: Kaushaltar and Satdobato
The bank’s explicit listing of these branches allows customers to plan their financial activities with certainty, minimizing the need for unnecessary travel and reducing potential exposure to security risks. The bank has also clarified that while Kaushaltar is listed under Bhaktapur, it is also a convenient location for customers in Lalitpur, highlighting a customer-centric approach to service delivery during a period of restricted mobility.
Focus on Essential Services and Digital Platforms
Nabil Bank has specified that the services available during the limited operating hours will be focused on urgent transactions only. This includes cash deposits and withdrawals, Electronic Cheque Clearing (ECC), Interbank Payment System (IPS), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) transfers, and remittance services. These are all time-sensitive and critical banking functions that are essential for the daily financial activities of both individuals and businesses. The bank has also made a point to mention that its passport facility will be available, which is an important service for individuals who are in the process of applying for travel documents. Non-essential services, such as new account openings or loan consultations, will remain suspended until normal operations can resume.
To further support its customers and reduce the need for physical visits, Nabil Bank is strongly encouraging the use of its digital banking platforms, including its mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM services. All of these digital channels are fully operational and secure, providing a convenient and safe alternative for routine financial transactions. This push towards digital banking is a crucial part of the bank’s strategy to ensure operational resilience and customer safety in the current environment.
Additional Support and Communication
Recognizing the need for real-time communication and support, Nabil Bank has provided dedicated channels for customer inquiries. These include a Viber support number at +977 9802002095 and a direct contact for its Grievance Management Officer at +977 9841338012. Both of these channels will be available during the limited operating hours, providing a vital resource for customers who have urgent questions but prefer not to visit a physical branch.
The bank’s commitment to providing updates for its branches outside the Kathmandu Valley as soon as they are confirmed also demonstrates a transparent and flexible approach to its nationwide operations. This measured and proactive strategy aligns with the actions of other leading banks in Nepal and reflects the industry’s commitment to navigating the current challenges responsibly. By providing clear guidance on operating hours, available services, and customer support, Nabil Bank is reinforcing its role as a reliable financial partner during these uncertain times, ensuring that customers can plan their financial activities with confidence and minimal disruption.
