The program was officially inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Satish Kumar Singh, Upendra Prasad Poudyal, Chairman of Nabil Bank, and other dignitaries. According to the bank, 25 participants have been selected for the first batch through an open application process.

During the inauguration program, Chief Minister Singh praised the bank’s initiative to promote social entrepreneurship. He stated, “Banks have been focusing on infrastructure development as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). However, Nabil Bank has taken a step further by launching a certificate course aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. This initiative is expected to benefit aspiring entrepreneurs.”

Nepal Rastra Bank Director Dilaram Subedi also commended Nabil Bank’s efforts, highlighting the significance of the program in promoting social entrepreneurship. Addressing the first batch of participants, Nabil Bank Chairman Poudyal emphasized that the bank is not only focused on profits but also on sustainable impact. He further explained that the Nabil SSE program is designed to support both aspiring and startup projects in the locality.

President of the Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Surendra Bhandari, expressed his willingness to support the program. Similarly, Monastic Higher Secondary English Boarding School Managing Director, Sonu Kumar Sah, remarked that such initiatives would inspire young individuals to explore opportunities within Nepal rather than seeking employment abroad. He also appreciated Nabil Bank’s collaboration with Monastic School for this initiative.

Nabil Bank has been running the Nabil SSE course to provide necessary knowledge and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and a passion for social entrepreneurship. The first batch of the program consists of 12 women and 13 men from Janakpur, Mithila Bihari Municipality, and Pirari Chowk.

Among them, three participants have contributed to Mithila art, art galleries, and Sikki craft, while five others are engaged in wholesale markets, pickles, electrical services, mattress production, and online businesses. Additionally, two participants are involved in retail trade, and one has already started an organic fresh fruit farming enterprise.

The three-month certificate course includes a 14-day action-based training session, where participants will receive guidance on product promotion, marketing, and other business-related topics. The program also incorporates experience-sharing sessions with regional and national-level entrepreneurs and trainers, as well as field visits.

Nabil Bank has been running the Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship program as part of its corporate social responsibility. The initiative currently offers both a Fellowship Program and a Certificate Course.

The Fellowship Program is being conducted in collaboration with the School of Management at Tribhuvan University, while the Certificate Course is being implemented in partnership with 11 educational institutions and establishing Nabil Centre for Social Entrepreneurship across all seven provinces.

According to the bank, a total of 866 participants have enrolled in these programs so far. Through these initiatives, 117 new enterprises have been established, and more than 1,200 individuals have secured employment.
