Nabil SSE Social Entrepreneurship
2nd December 2025, Kathmandu
Nabil Bank has unveiled a comprehensive initiative to cultivate a new generation of problem-solvers.
Nabil SSE Social Entrepreneurship
The bank is currently operating the Nabil SSE Social Entrepreneurship Program, which targets ambitious young individuals who seek to resolve crucial social issues through sustainable entrepreneurial ventures. This nationwide platform is designed to connect innovators with the tools and guidance necessary to establish impactful enterprises.
The program directly addresses critical national structural challenges. These include unemployment, skills deficits, and persistent issues in vital areas like agriculture, education, and healthcare. Nabil Bank aims to catalyze entrepreneurial energy to create tangible solutions in these sectors.
Strategic Programs Driving Change
The program is implemented through two primary components, as confirmed by Nabil Bank’s CEO, Manoj Gyawali. These dual initiatives form part of a long-term strategy. The goal is to strengthen the social entrepreneurship ecosystem and significantly contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The two offerings are:
-
The intensive Fellowship Program.
-
The foundational Certificate Course on Social Entrepreneurship.
Deep Dive: The Nabil SSE Fellowship Program
The Fellowship Program represents the most immersive track. It is run in partnership with the Faculty of Management at Tribhuvan University. The bank states that this program offers direct practice, structured mentorship, and crucial enterprise development tools to entrepreneurs with viable solutions to social problems.
This initiative seeks participants nationwide with ideas capable of making a difference in fields like energy, skill development, art/culture, and community welfare. By gathering participants from all regions, the bank actively fosters a diverse, shared learning environment.
Rigorous Learning and Mentorship
The six-month fellowship is highly practical. CEO Gyawali detailed the structure, explaining that participants receive functional, practical skills through three days of in-person classes each month. This culminates in a total of 18 days of residential sessions, ensuring a profound learning experience.
Year-Long Mentorship: Every participant is assigned a mentor for one full year. This crucial support system guides them from the initial start-up phase through critical stages.
Key Development Milestones: Mentors assist participants through structural development, market testing, product/service modeling, risk assessment, and financial plan preparation.
Investor Readiness: By the program’s conclusion, participants produce a market-ready product or service, or an investment-pitch-ready business plan. This focuses heavily on the technical execution of their digital and operational strategies.
Applicants must have already clearly identified a social problem and developed a preliminary concept or understanding of the solution.
Selection occurs through a rubric-based process, culminating in a final interview. While participants cover their own travel costs for classes, the program actively provides accommodation and food facilities.
Nationwide Reach: The Certificate Course
The “Certificate Course on Social Entrepreneurship” is a shorter, more accessible program. It achieves its wide reach by collaborating with seven educational institutions across all seven provinces. This democratizes social enterprise education.
This course is designed for individuals seeking to grasp the fundamental concepts of social entrepreneurship. It is also ideal for those in the preparation phase of starting a venture or those already operating one.
Practical and Experiential Learning
The certificate course spans three months, featuring 14 days of practical sessions. The focus remains on experiential learning and real-world application.
Expert Interaction: Participants engage directly with experienced entrepreneurs and subject matter experts from various fields.
Peer-to-Peer Learning: They interact and learn from peers with diverse professional and regional backgrounds.
Exposure Visits: CEO Gyawali highlighted that exposure visits provide crucial opportunities. These visits allow participants to understand the real-world challenges and possibilities of running an actual enterprise, often involving a look at the ICT solutions these businesses utilize.
This two-pronged approach ensures that Nabil Bank is not just funding ideas, but actively building a skilled, socially conscious entrepreneurial workforce ready to implement innovative solutions across Nepal.
