This year’s event, organized by the Nepal Automobile Dealers Association, isn’t just about new car launches; it’s a golden opportunity for prospective buyers to leverage attractive financing options and make their dream car a reality.
With a wide range of vehicles on display, from budget-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) to high-end luxury models, dealers and financial institutions are collaborating to offer deals that are hard to resist.
The show, which began on Tuesday, is a testament to the growth of Nepal’olks automotive sector. Prices of new cars range from as low as Rs. 18.99 lakhs to a staggering Rs. 2.20 crores. But don’t let the price tags intimidate you.
Thanks to supportive policies from Nepal Rastra Bank, customers can secure a car loan for up to 60% of the total vehicle price. This means you only need to arrange a 40% down payment to get the keys to your new ride, with the rest payable in easy monthly installments (EMI) at competitive interest rates.
Navigating Auto Loans: Banks Make it Easier than Ever
The financial landscape for car buyers has become much more favorable. Major commercial banks, including Nabil, Laxmi Sunrise, Global IME, Himalayan, Sanima, NMB, and Agricultural Development Bank, have set up dedicated stalls at the event to offer on-the-spot financing solutions.
The interest rates on these auto loans are currently ranging from a low of 6.23% to 8.25%, making vehicle ownership more accessible than ever. Most banks are providing loans for a tenure of up to 7 years, while Siddhartha Bank is even offering an extended term of 8 years.
This increased flexibility and lower interest environment are a direct result of improved liquidity in the banking sector and a recognized lower risk in auto loans compared to other credit sectors.
As Govinda Gurung, CEO of Agricultural Development Bank, explained, “The risk of bad loans is much lower in the automobile sector, so banks can provide cheaper financing.” This stability gives banks the confidence to offer more favorable terms, directly benefiting the consumer.
The Price of Convenience: Down Payments and EMI Breakdown
