21st August 2025, Kathmandu
The spirit of Dashain has once again infused the air, and with it comes the tradition of purchasing new belongings. For a growing number of Nepalis, this tradition has expanded to include a new car.
NADA Auto Show 2025 Nepal
The annual NADA Auto Show, organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, has become the go-to destination for those looking to make a big purchase, and this year’s 17th edition is no exception. Held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, the show is a bustling hub of innovation, competition, and enticing offers.
This year’s NADA Auto Show is a well-organized spectacle, captivating visitors with its diverse range of vehicles and a dedicated section for auto parts. However, the showstopper this year is undoubtedly the futuristic flying taxi.
A product of collaboration between Chinese automaker Changan and Ehang, this eVTOL (Electronic Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft is on public display for the first time in Nepal. While you can’t touch or buy it, it offers a symbolic glimpse into a new era of mobility and the rapid technological advancements in the automotive industry.
The EV Revolution and Fierce Competition
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are the clear stars of the NADA Auto Show 2025. They have not only attracted the most customer interest but have also ignited a “price war” among competing brands.
Similar to the NIMA Expo held just a week prior, companies are slashing prices and bundling offers to attract customers. Discounts of up to Rs 600,000 have been reported on certain models, creating an exciting environment for potential buyers.
Key Highlights and Exclusive Offers
MAW’s Dominance: As the main sponsor of the show, MAW Enterprises has a commanding presence. With seven stalls representing six different brands—Nami, Seres, Deepal, Foton, Avatr, Sokon—and Yamaha bikes, MAW has the largest footprint. This extensive lineup is a testament to its market leadership, a position further solidified by its highest number of bookings at last year’s event.
The Cheapest EV on the Block: Thakur Motors, the official distributor for Jinpeng, has brought a small smart city car to the exhibition that is creating a significant buzz. The Lingbox EC01 mini electric car is making waves as the most affordable four-wheeler EV in Nepal.
Priced at just Rs 1.999 million for the City variant and Rs 1.899 million for the Premium variant, it offers a remarkable discount of Rs 500,000 from its original price. With a driving range of 240 km to 340 km, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a 35 kW motor, it’s a compelling option for urban commuters.
