NADA Conducts Interaction Program in Hetauda, Discusses MRP, Customs, and SAFTA

On January 3, 2025 (Poush 19, 2081), a significant interaction program was conducted in Hetauda under the chief guestship of Karan Chaudhary, President of the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA). The program brought together officials and members from NADA, the Hetauda Automobiles Association, and institutional associations affiliated with NADA.

The interaction program was organized in conjunction with the 24th Annual General Meeting of the Hetauda Automobiles Association, held on January 4, 2025 (Poush 20, 2081). The event focused on addressing various challenges faced by the automobile industry and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

Key Discussion Points

The participating members raised several critical issues, including:

MRP Issuance: Problems stemming from the guidelines issued by the Customs and Commerce Departments.

Customs Valuation Challenges: Difficulties faced in assessing and clearing automobile-related goods.

SAFTA-Imported Goods: Issues with automobile products imported under SAFTA provisions.

Unregulated Traders: The adverse impact of approximately 3,000 shops operating without PAN numbers in Madhesh Province.

VAT and Accounting Issues: Problems related to VAT registration and compliance.

Business Challenges: Practical concerns like cheque bounces and inadequate insurance coverage for automobile businesses.

Member Welfare Fund: Calls for establishing a fund to support NADA members.

Support for Provincial Associations: Requests for financial resources to help provincial associations conduct general assemblies.

Responses and Solutions

President Karan Chaudhary addressed the queries and concerns raised during the discussion. Central Executive Committee Member Sunil Rizal provided detailed answers to questions related to spare parts and MRP.

Additionally, NADA General Secretary Surendra Kumar Uprety highlighted the need for tax, customs, and VCTS-related training programs. He assured the attendees that NADA would provide necessary support for such initiatives, as well as skill development training.

Friendly Badminton Tournament

Before the interaction program, NADA organized its first-ever Inter-Province Level Friendly Badminton Tournament in Hetauda. Eight teams participated in the doubles tournament, with the pair of Amrit Joshi (former President, of Chitwan Automobiles Association) and Shri Prasad Shrestha (Executive Member) emerging as the winners.

Conclusion

NADA believes that such programs will strengthen and deepen the relationship between NADA and its institutional associations. These initiatives, which have been conducted in the past, will continue in the future to promote collaboration and address the challenges faced by the automobile industry in Nepal.
