The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, in partnership with the ENSSURE project, successfully held a two-day training on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) on Baisakh 24 and 25, 2082(7 and 8 May). The session took place in Lalitpur and focused on improving workplace safety and health practices in the automobile sector.
NADA OSH Training
The training aimed to build awareness of occupational hazards in auto workshops. It promoted safer work environments and better health practices. The goal was to bring change in both understanding and behavior related to OSH. Participants were encouraged to think critically about their current safety practices and how to improve them.
First OSH Training with ENSSURE
This was the first time NADA collaborated with the ENSSURE project for an OSH-focused training. The program covered key topics such as risk identification, prevention strategies, and safety culture building in mechanical workshops.
Previously, NADA and ENSSURE had worked together on other training programs related to the automobile industry. However, this marked a new step toward promoting workplace safety through structured learning.
Participation from Member Companies
Twelve NADA member companies nominated their staff for the training. A total of 20 participants attended. Most came from technical backgrounds and worked in automobile workshops. They shared experiences and learned practical safety techniques.
The training emphasized teamwork and hands-on learning. It also encouraged participants to apply what they learned in their daily work.
Expert Trainer Led the Sessions
Nepal’s recognized OSH expert, Mr. Dinesh Prasad Sah, led the training. He explained common risks in workshops and introduced safety management strategies. His sessions highlighted how accidents can be reduced through proper planning and awareness.
Mr. Sah also shared case studies and real-world examples. These helped the participants better relate to the content and understand the importance of a safety-first culture.
NADA’s Commitment to CSR
NADA organized the program under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The association has been conducting industry-relevant training programs for the past two years. ENSSURE aims to enhance skills and safety standards in the automobile sector.
By conducting OSH training, NADA demonstrated its commitment to workforce development. The association believes in building safe, sustainable, and skilled workplaces for its members.
Certification and Closing Ceremony
The training ended with a formal certificate distribution ceremony. NADA Treasurer Mr. Milan Babu Mall and ENSSURE Deputy Team Leader Mr. Sanjiv Kumar Rai handed out certificates to all 20 participants.
The closing event included remarks from Mr. Pradeepman Pradhan, NADA Central Executive Committee Member, and Mr. Lok Raj Joshi, Private Sector Engagement Expert from ENSSURE. They highlighted the importance of such training in preventing workplace injuries and raising industry standards.
Both organizations appreciated the participants’ enthusiasm and pledged more collaborations in the future.
Coordinated with Professionalism
The program ran smoothly under the coordination of Ms. Arju Shrestha, NADA’s Training Coordinator. She ensured all sessions remained engaging, interactive, and well-organized. Feedback from the trainees was positive, with many calling it eye-opening and relevant.
Ms. Shrestha noted that this was just the beginning. Future programs would cover more advanced topics and follow-up training to help participants implement safety protocols in their workplaces.
Looking Ahead
NADA and ENSSURE plan to scale such training initiatives. They aim to include more companies, trainers, and technical areas in upcoming programs. Both believe that strengthening OSH practices will not only save lives but also improve productivity and morale in the industry.
By launching structured OSH training, NADA has taken a step forward in protecting workers’ health, ensuring safer environments, and building a more responsible automotive sector in Nepal.
