Following a decision to halt vehicle movement from 6 PM on Saturday, approximately 40 to 50 vehicles were stopped, leaving over 200 travelers stranded along the major highway.

To address this unexpected disruption, Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Aryal and Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Puri swiftly coordinated with the Hotel Association Chitwan and the Regional Hotel Association Nepal, Sauraha Chitwan to provide affordable shelter for the affected passengers.

Through this collaborative effort, stranded travelers are now being offered hotel rooms at a 75% discount, with hotels charging only 25% of their usual room rate.

This relief initiative ensures that no traveler remains without safe accommodation amid the temporary road closure.

According to Krishna Bhatt, President of the Hotel Association Chitwan, the association is fully committed to assisting travelers with both food and lodging facilities during the crisis.

Similarly, Subash Chandra Gautam, Vice President of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha Chitwan, confirmed that member hotels have agreed to extend generous discounts on both rooms and meals.

SP Govinda Puri further stated that police personnel are maintaining traffic management and passenger safety, ensuring that all travelers are transported securely to nearby hotels for shelter and care.

Although the reason behind the road closure has not been officially announced, the Narayanghat–Muglin road section is known for temporary blockages caused by landslides, ongoing maintenance, or safety precautions especially during the monsoon season.

This well-coordinated response between the local administration, police, and hotel associations has been widely appreciated as a positive model of crisis management and community support.

It demonstrates how quick coordination between government bodies and the private sector can ease the hardships faced by travelers during emergencies.
