The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology has developed an electric scooter. This electric scooter was built by NAST in partnership with the Lumbini state government.

The scooter is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of two kilowatts. The capacity of the battery can also be increased.

Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) claims that the electric scooter could run 50-kilometer on a single charge, increasing the capacity of batteries and motors can cover more than 50 kilometers.

This afternoon, Minister of Energy Pampha Bhusal, Minister of Education Devendra Poudel, and others will jointly inaugurate the electric scooter.

According to Rabindra Dhakal, Head of Nast’s Technology Faculty and Head of the Electric Scooter Manufacturing Program, the model scooters fit for Nepali soil were created at a period when the costs of petroleum goods were skyrocketing.

Dhakal revealed that the build cost of the scooter was more than three lakh rupees. When it comes to mass manufacturing, he estimates that electric scooters can be built in Nepal for a minimum of Rs 150,000 to Rs 200,000.

Similarly, Nast is undertaking a feasibility assessment with the Lumbini state government to determine what technical and financial preparations should be taken when establishing a factory in Nepal.
