Nation Wide Software Competition, 6th GCES IT Mahotsav

GCES IT MAHOTSAV is a grand exhibition of software projects, software competition(s), musical events, documentary shows and gaming organized by GCES.

Eligibility

  1. Participants may compete as an individual or as a team. Students or team members must be a student studying in the college they represent. Each team can consist of maximum four members.
  2. Not more than three teams are expected from a college.
  3. The participant student must play the primary role in the problem-solving; however they may receive technical and financial assistance from others.
  4. Please note that the intent of the competition is for the students, not others, to solve a problem. Persons acting as a team mentors or in a mentorship role must limit the level of support provided to general guidance and must not contribute in any other form that might be considered original authorship, or in any way that may enable claims of rights or ownership to the submitted entries.
  5. If any projects are found to be copied from others or downloaded from internet, those projects will not be included in the competition or can be eliminated at any time during the competition.

Registration Procedure

  1. Each team should select and notify their team leader while registering for the competition.
  2. Application of participation from the college.
  3. The Entries must include the following:
    • Project Proposal including
      • Description
      • Solution
      • Feasibility and Usability
    • Executable file of the project or the link to the project (if web based).
    • Project testing/implementation status and strategy
    • Registration can be submitted online , send via email (mail@gces.edu.np) or submit directly to the college administration.

The provided entry form together with the proposal and recognition from the college should be directly submitted to the college administration or email to the official address or register online by 19th Poush with all the requirements above.

Incomplete entries are void and will not be eligible to win.

Judges may ask to view the source code on the day of project defense, so the participants are requested to have a copy of it with them during the day.

Competition Structure

  1. Submission of entry form with requirements mentioned above
  2. Presentation and project defensing 25th Poush.
  3. Participants are required to give a 10 minutes presentation on their project including source code and explanation.
  4. They have to defense their project against juries. 15 minutes will be allocated for project defense (demonstration + questionnaires)

Selection Criteria

The winner shall be selected based on

  1. The results achieved.
  2. Their impact on humanity or on community.
  3. Sustainability, re-usability, portability, ease of use, entrepreneurship, originality, completeness, security, and creativity.
  4. Presentation and defensing.
  5. Open source will be advantage.

Awards

Rules and Regulations

  1. Participant must bring their identity card on the presentation day.
  2. A student cannot be the part of multiple teams.
  3. Each team must select a team leader.
  4. The Team Leader shall be responsible to manage and coordinate among the team members as well as communicate on behalf of the team during the competition.
  5. Project must be self-created.
  6. In the event that similar entries are submitted by multiple participants, GCES reserves the right to select the prize winners based on the criteria listed above.
  7. Laptops and any other hardware and software requirements should be managed by the participants themselves. Only the projector and internet facility will be provided by the college.
  8. Participants should manage their transportation and fooding by themselves.
  9. Decision of the juries will be the last decision.
  10. GCES reserves the rights, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this contest or terminate this contest and award a prize from entries received up to time termination or suspension.

Agreement to Official Rules

By participation in this contest, participants agree to abide by the terms of and conditions as established by GCES. GCES reserves the right to qualify all submissions and to reject any submissions that do not meet the requirements for the participation as established by GCES.

NOTE: Source code if submitted with registration form is for internal evaluation. It will be the property of respective team and will not be used by the college.
