National Capital Limited Secures SEBON Merchant Banking License: Boosting Nepal’s Capital Market

National Capital Limited, a subsidiary of National Life Insurance Company, has officially received a merchant banking license from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). The license was granted on Monday, allowing the company to expand its financial services portfolio in Nepal’s capital market.

With this license, National Capital is now authorized to provide a range of merchant banking services, including underwriting, portfolio management, and corporate advisory services. In addition, the company has already submitted an application to SEBON for issue management and share registrar services, aiming to offer the full spectrum of merchant banking solutions upon approval.
The current CEO of National Capital Limited is Arpan Khanal. Khanal, along with other investors, had previously established Khanal Pradhanang Investment Services in 2018. Later, with the infusion of capital and strategic investment from National Life Insurance Company, the firm was restructured and rebranded as National Capital Limited.
National Life Insurance holds a majority stake in the company, solidifying its role as a key financial player in the capital market. The authorized and issued capital of National Capital is set at NPR 300 million, with a current paid-up capital of NPR 200 million. The company also has plans to issue initial public offerings (IPO) in the future to further strengthen its capital base.
