The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is preparing to mark its 75th anniversary, also known as the Diamond Jubilee, with nationwide events. This celebration will highlight the Chamber’s long-standing contribution to Nepal’s private sector.
NCC 75th Anniversary Events
To lead the effort, NCC has formed a Main Celebration Committee. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, the Chair of the Chamber’s Advisory Council and a former President, will head this committee.
The decision came during a recent meeting of the Chamber’s leadership. The committee will oversee the planning and execution of the Jubilee programs. It aims to make the celebrations grand and impactful.
First Private Sector Body in Nepal
NCC is Nepal’s oldest private sector organization. It has represented business interests for over seven decades. Since its founding, NCC has worked to enhance trade, promote entrepreneurship, and push for economic policy reforms.
This year, the Chamber plans to reflect on its legacy. It will showcase major contributions to Nepal’s economic development. It also plans to highlight its advocacy for the private sector and its role in driving national prosperity.
Year-long Programs Announced
Instead of a single event, the Chamber will organize a series of programs throughout the year. These will take place across various regions of Nepal.
Key programs will include:
National-level business summits
Policy discussions with stakeholders
Regional exhibitions and trade expos
Recognition of business leaders and entrepreneurs
Publications on the Chamber’s history and achievements
These events will engage business communities, government officials, international partners, students, and the general public.
Focus on Economic Growth
The 75th anniversary also brings a chance to look ahead. NCC wants to use this opportunity to present a new economic vision. It hopes to encourage stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector.
The Chamber will promote ideas such as:
Expanding exports
Supporting start-ups
Improving the investment climate
Strengthening industrial capacity
Enhancing trade links with global markets
NCC believes these efforts are key to achieving long-term economic growth.
Strong Legacy of Leadership
Over the past 75 years, the Chamber has remained a trusted voice of the private sector. It has supported thousands of businesses and influenced major policy decisions. Through its actions, NCC has helped shape Nepal’s economic journey.
Former President Rajesh Kaji Shrestha said the Diamond Jubilee is a proud moment for the private sector. He thanked members and leaders who have contributed to the Chamber’s success. Shrestha also called for joint efforts to make the Jubilee celebrations meaningful.
Broad Participation Expected
The Chamber expects strong participation from all sectors. This includes representatives from small businesses, large industries, banking, agriculture, tourism, and services. Youth entrepreneurs, economic experts, and local governments will also join the events.
NCC plans to make the Jubilee inclusive and forward-looking. The Chamber will promote the message of unity, innovation, and sustainable growth. It also hopes to build new partnerships to boost private sector development.
Looking Ahead
NCC will soon share a detailed program calendar. It will also announce event locations, themes, and special guests. The Chamber aims to use this celebration to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs.
Nepal’s business community is now preparing to honor 75 years of resilience, leadership, and progress. The Diamond Jubilee is set to become a landmark event in the country’s economic history.
