Ncell Foundation’s ‘ICT Gyan’: Nepal Digital Literacy & Skills Program

ICT Foundation Nepal, in collaboration with Ncell Foundation, has launched a comprehensive digital literacy campaign titled ‘ICT Gyan’. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by empowering communities across all seven provinces of Nepal with essential digital skills.

The ‘ICT Gyan’ program targets diverse groups, including school teachers, women’s collectives, farmers, youth entrepreneurs, and local government representatives. Participants receive training on various topics such as basic digital skills, cybersecurity, mobile banking, and online payment systems. The program’s objective is to foster digital inclusion and promote the effective use of technology in daily life.
Successful Implementation In Koshi And Madhesh Provinces
The initiative has already been successfully implemented in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, with over 500 participants engaged in the training sessions.
Koshi Province: Training sessions in Morang and Sunsari districts focused on foundational digital skills and cybersecurity awareness.

Madhesh Province: In Saptari and Sarlahi districts, the program emphasized the use of mobile banking and online payment platforms, aiming to enhance financial literacy and digital transaction capabilities.

Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, Director of Special Projects at Ncell Foundation, emphasized the program’s role in bridging the digital gap:

Upcoming Training Sessions Across Provinces
Building on the success in Koshi and Madhesh, the ‘ICT Gyan’ program is set to expand to other provinces with tailored training modules:
Bagmati Province: Dolakha and Sindhupalchok districts will host sessions on social media management and data privacy.
Gandaki Province: Syangja and Manang districts will focus on cloud services and digital entrepreneurship best practices.
Lumbini Province: Banke and Pyuthan districts will explore agricultural digitalization and the use of mobile applications for farmers.
Karnali Province: Dailekh and Salyan districts will delve into electronic governance systems and digital financial inclusion.
Sudurpaschim Province: Achham and Kailali districts will conduct training on e-governance and online public service platforms.
