NEA Takes Lead: Cybersecurity Upskilling Program to Set New Benchmark in Nepal’s Tech Space
20th November 2025, Kathmandu
In a significant move to bolster Nepal’s digital defenses, the Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA) has formally received the proposed syllabus for its ambitious Cybersecurity Upskilling Training Program.
NEA Lead Cybersecurity Upskilling
The syllabus, presented by the NEA Cybersecurity Training Syllabus Committee, marks a pivotal step toward professionalizing and standardizing the cybersecurity sector in the country.
The committee, led by coordinator Er. Bijay Kumar Roy, officially submitted the comprehensive training program to the President of NEA, Er. Subash Chandra Baral.
The core team behind this vital initiative included a cohort of leading experts: Chiranjibi Adhikari (Founder President of Center For Cybersecurity Research and Innovation – CSRI Nepal), Er. Sujan Shrestha, Roja Kiran Basukala, Bandana Sharma, Vivek S. Rana, Yasmine Bhattarai, Suvash Khadka, Narayan Lamghade, and others.
A New Benchmark for Cybersecurity Professionals
The need for highly skilled Nepalese cybersecurity professionals has never been more critical, given the rapid digital transformation and the corresponding surge in cyber threats. The newly submitted syllabus is designed to address this skills gap directly.
The program’s coordinator, Er. Bijay Kumar Roy, expressed strong confidence in the initiative’s potential impact.
“This training program is not just another course; it is designed to create a bench mark of cybersecurity space of Nepal,” stated Er. Roy. “Our goal is to equip engineers and tech professionals with the advanced, practical skills needed to secure our nation’s digital infrastructure against sophisticated threats.”
Collaborative Approach to National Security
A key feature of the training program is its emphasis on collaboration with major industry stakeholders. Chiranjibi Adhikari, a recognized Cybersecurity Policy expert and Founder President of CSRI Nepal, highlighted the power of this unified approach.
“This cybersecurity training program, conducted with multiple stakeholders’ collaboration such as NTA, Center For Cybersecurity Research and Innovation (CSRI Nepal), Information Security Response Team Nepal (npCert), CAN Federation and other stakeholders, will make a big impact to minimize the cybersecurity issues in Nepal,” said Adhikari. “By integrating the expertise of regulators, innovators, and practitioners, we are building a united front against cybercrime.”
This multi-stakeholder model ensures the curriculum is relevant, aligned with national policy, and provides participants with crucial networking opportunities within the cybersecurity ecosystem.
Immediate Implementation Planned
NEA President Er. Subash Chandra Baral thanked the committee for their diligent work and commitment to elevating the technical capacity of NEA’s members.
The President confirmed that the Nepal Engineers’ Association is committed to a swift launch. The training program is expected to be implemented very soon, marking a significant milestone in professional development for engineers and tech experts in the country.
This NEA initiative is poised to be a game-changer, not only for the association’s members but for the overall cybersecurity resilience of Nepal’s public and private sectors.
