Exam Participation And Pass Rate Improvement
This year, 514,071 students sat for the SEE exam. Among them, 126 students had their exams canceled due to various issues. Compared to last year, the pass rate increased significantly. In 2079, only 48% of students qualified for Grade 11. This year’s results show notable progress in student performance.
Breakdown Of Grade Distribution
According to the NEB data, 48,177 students scored between a GPA of 3.6 and 4.0. Meanwhile, 81,385 students earned GPAs ranging from 3.2 to 3.6. Another 79,124 students achieved scores between 2.8 and 3.2. The report also shows that 48,479 students obtained GPAs from 2.4 to 2.8. A smaller group of 4,126 students scored between 2.0 and 2.4, while only eight students scored below 2.0.
Subject-Wise Failure Rates
Mathematics was the toughest subject for many students. It recorded the highest number of failures, with 128,215 students unable to meet the passing criteria. English followed, with 80,672 students failing. Science and Technology had 79,271 students ungraded. The Nepali language and Social Studies also showed high failure numbers, with 54,735 and 53,186 students, respectively, not passing.
Grading System And Exam Challenges
The SEE exam followed the letter grading system. Students had to score at least 27 out of 75 marks in theory and 10 out of 25 marks in practicals to pass each subject. This year’s exam took place amid teachers’ strikes, which caused delays in the examination schedule. The publication was postponed by a week due to these disruptions.
Supplementary Exams And Result Access
The board announced that students failing in up to two subjects can take the Grade Improvement Exams starting from Shrawan 29 (mid-August). To ensure fairness, the NEB conducted answer sheet verification in more than 50 centers across Nepal.
Students can check their SEE results by sending an SMS to Nepal Telecom’s 1600 number. They can also view results online via www.see.ntc.net.np or www.see.gov.np.
Positive Trends And Remaining Challenges
This year’s pass percentage of nearly 62% marks a significant improvement from last year’s 48%. This rise suggests better exam preparedness and possibly improved teaching methods. However, the high failure rate in key subjects like Mathematics indicates that foundational education still needs more attention.
