This new facility, built with an investment of NPR 4 billion, marks a significant achievement for Nepal’s industrial sector. The plant is the first of its kind in the country and began operations with a formal inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.

During the event, Krishna Bahadur Raut, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, stressed the importance of increasing the use of locally made products. He called for the government to implement policies that encourage domestic manufacturing and consumption. According to Raut, effective government collaboration at all levels will help create local job opportunities and support economic growth. He also emphasized the need for a coordinated effort to improve self-reliance in manufacturing essential materials like aluminum rods.

Raut expressed confidence that the new plant will help reduce Nepal’s reliance on imported aluminum rods. He noted that this aligns with the government’s goal of boosting domestic production and reducing import dependency, particularly in sectors such as construction and electrical wiring.

Rohit Gupta, Managing Director of Litmus Industries Limited, explained that aluminum rods, used in various industries like electrical wiring and construction, have been mostly imported into Nepal. However, with the opening of this new plant, the country will now be able to produce high-quality aluminum rods locally. Gupta also highlighted that this will reduce the dependency on imports and support the growth of Nepal’s industrial sector.

The plant has an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of aluminum rods. Gupta revealed that Nepal’s current demand is about 8,000 tons, indicating a significant opportunity for growth. Additionally, the company plans to export some of the aluminum rods to India and other third countries. This positions the plant as a potential supplier to regional markets, further expanding Nepal’s industrial presence.

Gupta also emphasized the positive impact the plant will have on the local economy. By reducing the need for imports, it will keep more foreign exchange within the country. Furthermore, the plant is expected to create job opportunities and contribute to Nepal’s overall economic development.

Litmus Industries Limited’s decision to invest in this plant reflects its commitment to supporting Nepal’s industrial growth. The company aims to meet both domestic and international demand for high-quality aluminum rods. As production ramps up, the plant will help to stabilize the supply of aluminum rods and improve the local manufacturing industry.

In conclusion, the new aluminum rod production plant in Nawalparasi is a key step in Nepal’s industrial development. It will not only reduce import dependency but also create jobs and boost the country’s economic growth.

Litmus Industries Limited is playing a vital role in strengthening Nepal’s industrial sector and supporting self-sufficiency in aluminum rod production. The company’s investment will help the country become more self-reliant and provide high-quality products to both local and international markets.
