Nepal Bank Limited Visa Credit Card: Features, Limits & How to Apply
27th May 2025, Kathmandu
Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), the country’s first commercial bank, has introduced the NBL Visa Credit Card to offer customers a convenient, secure, and flexible payment solution. The card allows users to enjoy the “buy now, pay later” model, adding value to the bank’s growing digital service portfolio.
Nepal Bank Visa Credit Card
Designed for individual customers, this domestic credit card can be used in Nepal, India, and Bhutan. It supports POS, online transactions, and ATM withdrawals within set limits. The service helps bridge the gap between spending needs and liquidity.
Convenient Credit Limit And Payment Options
The NBL Visa Credit Card offers credit limits ranging from NPR 20,000 to NPR 500,000, depending on the applicant’s income or deposit security. Customers can choose to repay as little as 10% of the outstanding amount, with a minimum of NPR 1,000, or pay the entire balance by the due date.
One of the major benefits is the interest-free credit period, which ranges from 15 to 45 days on purchase transactions. However, if dues remain unpaid after the due date, a 2% monthly interest applies.
ATM And POS Transaction Limits
The bank has fixed clear transaction limits. In Nepal, customers can withdraw up to NPR 25,000 per ATM transaction and NPR 50,000 daily. The POS spending limit is NPR 100,000 per transaction and NPR 200,000 daily.
For cardholders using services in India, ATM withdrawals are capped at INR 10,000 per day, while POS spending is allowed up to INR 100,000 daily.
Online transactions follow the same daily ceiling — NPR 200,000 in Nepal and INR 100,000 in India.
These limits align with the latest NRB circulars and guidelines.
Charges Explained
NBL has maintained competitive pricing on credit card services. The joining and annual fee is NPR 750. If the card is lost or damaged, a replacement also costs NPR 750. A new PIN reissue is available for NPR 50.
Late payments result in a NPR 300 penalty per instance, while crossing the credit limit incurs a NPR 500 charge. Customers requesting a credit limit increase must pay NPR 500.
For cash withdrawals:
At NBL ATMs, the fee is NPR 100 + 2% of the amount
At other domestic Visa ATMs: NPR 200 + 2%
In India: NPR 250 + 2%
Balance inquiries are free at NBL ATMs. However, using non-NBL ATMs costs NPR 20 domestically and NPR 50 in India.
POS and online payments are free of additional charges.
Interest And Billing Schedule
The interest rate stands at 2% per month, or 24% annually, on unpaid balances and cash withdrawals. The billing date is fixed on the 23rd of every month, and customers must pay within 15 days to avoid interest charges.
This system gives cardholders enough flexibility to manage cash flow and expenses while promoting responsible financial habits.

Nepalese citizens who are 21 years or older are eligible. They must have a savings or current account at Nepal Bank Limited. Additionally, the minimum monthly income should be NPR 20,000, or the annual business income must be at least NPR 150,000.
