Nepal Bank’s Guide To Avoiding SCAM and FAKE Online Posts: Don’t Take the Bait

28th October 2025, Kathmandu

Online scams are growing rapidly in Nepal. Cybercriminals are using social media and fake ads to steal personal and financial information. Nepal Bank Limited has issued an important alert to help customers and the general public stay protected.

Nepal Bank’s Guide SCAM

Nepal Bank reminds everyone to remain aware and cautious at all times.

विभिन्न SCAM तथा FAKE पोस्टहरु मार्फत प्रलोभनमा परी कुनै पनि व्यक्तिगत विवरणहरु नदिनुहोला! सधैँ सचेत र सतर्क रहौं!

(Do not give any personal details through SCAM and FAKE posts. Always stay alert and vigilant!)

How Scammers Trap Victims: The Bait Strategy

Scammers create fake posts pretending to be trusted organizations like banks. They use tempting offers to convince users to click on suspicious links. Recently, a sample fake post attempted to mislead users with the following claims:

Deceptive Claim Why It’s a SCAM
“Online Work (अनलाइन काम गर्नुहोस्)” Real job opportunities are posted on official sites, not random ads.
“Easy daily income 1000–2000 NPR” Unrealistic earnings are a classic scam tactic.
“No experience needed” They want to attract more victims quickly.
“Work 2–3 hours a day using only a phone” Low-effort, high-reward promises reduce suspicion.
“Click the link below.” The final step to steal your information.

Once you click, you may be taken to a phishing website where scammers collect your data.

How to Protect Yourself

Nepal Bank suggests these security practices to keep your personal and financial information safe:

Never Share Sensitive Details

Do not give your PIN, password, OTP, ATM/Card number, or CVV to anyone. Bank personnel will never request this information on a call or via social media.

Verify Before You Trust

If you see a job post, reward announcement, or urgent message claiming to be from Nepal Bank — do not click the link.
Instead, go to the bank’s official channels directly.

Check URL Carefully

Look for Scam Indicators

Poor grammar, spelling errors, and overly urgent language often signal fraud attempts.

Report Suspicious Activity
