Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Supports Sudurpaschim Province Investment Summit

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has announced its full support for the upcoming Sudurpaschim Province Investment and Development Summit, scheduled for Mangsir 1–2. The Chamber will assist in investment facilitation, publicity, and other essential areas to ensure the success of the summit.
Sudurpaschim Province Investment Summit
The commitment was confirmed during a discussion at the Chamber building in Jamal, Kathmandu, attended by Hon. Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, provincial ministers, and members of the Provincial Planning Commission. Chamber President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal emphasized the need for project selection based on measurable returns and policy reforms to attract both domestic and foreign investment.
Key Investment Sectors in Sudurpaschim Province
President Agrawal highlighted that Sudurpaschim Province holds enormous potential in natural resources. “With proper policy reforms, the private sector will invest. Policies must ensure investment returns, as water and investment flow to where there is opportunity,” he stated.
The summit will focus on priority sectors such as:
Industries and mineral-based products
Tourism, including eco-tourism, religious tourism, and adventure tourism
Information technology and fintech
Energy, particularly hydropower projects like Pancheshwar, Karnali, and West Seti
Agriculture, including rice, maize, wheat, fruits, spices, and medicinal herbs
Infrastructure, education, and health
Sudurpaschim Province offers high potential for hydropower, agricultural production, tourism, and cross-border trade. The successful operation of major hydropower projects is expected to significantly contribute to the national economy.
Policy Recommendations for Investment Growth
To create an investment-friendly environment, the Chamber has suggested:
Tax incentives and relief
Efficient land management
Single-window clearance systems
Public-private partnership (PPP) models
President Agrawal also emphasized that environmentally-friendly industries, organic farming, and renewable energy projects would provide long-term benefits to the province and the nation.
Provincial Leadership Supports Chamber Initiatives
Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah stressed the importance of creating a conducive environment for domestic investment before attracting foreign investors. He highlighted the province’s potential to generate employment and access neighboring markets for Sudurpaschim’s products.
Former Chamber President Rajendra Mall called for policies that utilize fallow land effectively and highlighted the importance of youth returning from abroad to contribute their skills to provincial development. Senior Vice President Deepak Malhotra emphasized prioritizing hydropower projects to unlock the province’s full economic potential.
President Agrawal also highlighted tourism investment opportunities at sites such as Khaptad National Park, Api-Saipal Himalayan range, Baijnath Dham, and Shuklaphanta National Park, promoting eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and religious tourism for regional economic growth.
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce, established in 1950 (2007 BS), continues to prioritize the expansion of business, trade, and industrial activities across Nepal, and this summit represents a key step in promoting sustainable development and investment in Sudurpaschim Province.
