Nepal Chamber Partners SriLanka Chamber For Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises

A strategic partnership agreement has been signed between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the Sri Lankan Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (SLCSMI) for the promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the enhancement of trade and investment. This agreement was coordinated by the Nepali Embassy in Sri Lanka.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Purna Bahadur Nepali, Nepali Ambassador to Sri Lanka. Mr. Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, President of NCC, signed on behalf of NCC, while Mr. Rohan D. Silva, President of SLCSMI, signed on behalf of SLCSMI.

According to a statement issued by the Nepal Chamber, the two organizations have agreed to collaborate on:

Promoting small and medium enterprises.

Exploring bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

Facilitating trade between the private sectors of Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The agreement also outlines cooperation on:

Sharing practices, policy arrangements, capacity building programs, training, and workshops related to small and medium enterprises in each other’s countries.

Bilateral meetings between chamber representatives of both countries.

Bilateral investment in small and medium enterprises.

The NCC and SLCSMI will also coordinate efforts to:

Organize exhibitions for products manufactured by small and medium enterprises in each other’s countries.

Boost trade promotion.

The Chamber stated that the two parties will further engage in:

Facilitating bilateral trade.

Technology transfer.

Joint research and exploration of the potential of small and medium industries.

Essentially, this strategic partnership agreement between the chambers of the two countries aims to specifically promote small and medium enterprises in Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Nepal-Srilnka ICT Alliance

A conceptual framework for the Nepal-Sri Lanka ICT Alliance, spearheaded by Cybersecurity Policy Expert and Senior Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari, aims to transform South Asia’s digital landscape. This strategic bilateral partnership, formally launched with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kathmandu, focuses on accelerating digital transformation, fostering innovation, and enhancing economic cooperation.

Key pillars include establishing a Nepal-Sri Lanka ICT Business Council for structured dialogue and business matchmaking, promoting joint ventures in startups and innovation through co-investment and incubation programs, and achieving mutual recognition of IT certifications to bridge skill gaps. The alliance also emphasizes facilitating outsourcing and talent exchange, strengthening cybersecurity cooperation between npCert and Sri Lanka CERT, and exploring a bilateral ICT investment fund. This comprehensive framework seeks to position both nations as complementary digital hubs, driving regional digital advancement.
