Nepal-China Cultural Conference 2025: Kathmandu Event For 70 Years Diplomatic Ties

Kathmandu is set to host the Nepal–China Cultural Conference 2025 on Shrawan 2 (July 18) at The Blue Pavilion, Nepal Police Club, Exhibition Road. Organized by Phonex Inspiration, this is the third cultural exchange event of its kind, but the first-ever conference under this format. The conference celebrates 70 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Chen Song, will attend as the special guest, while other key dignitaries include MP Anjana Shakya and Lin Xiangyang, head of China’s Yinhua Academy of Tianjin.
Cultural and Linguistic Exchange At The Core
The main objective of the conference is to promote language and cultural exchange between Nepal and China. Phonex Inspiration Chairman Vinod Blon said the event aims to deepen people-to-people ties, build mutual understanding, and create employment opportunities through language proficiency.
He emphasized that Nepalis fluent in the Chinese language have found meaningful job opportunities, particularly in translation, dubbing, and cross-border business. Phonex Inspiration has been teaching Mandarin in Nepali schools, dubbing Chinese films into Nepali, and translating Chinese literature such as short stories, children’s books, and novels. These activities have boosted both cultural knowledge and job access.
Student Delegations & Cultural Performances
To mark the occasion, 70 Chinese students have arrived in Nepal, while 70 Nepali teachers and students have visited China in the first week of July. On the day of the conference, both delegations will present cultural performances including traditional songs, dances, and poetry reflecting the heritage of both nations.
The event is expected to be a vibrant display of cultural exchange. This cross-border collaboration also includes teacher training, principal visits, and festival-sharing programs via online platforms. Business And Language Integration
Santosh Kumar Pandey, Vice President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the importance of learning Chinese for entrepreneurs and business professionals. With growing Nepal–China trade, he stressed that Chinese language skills are vital for smoother communication and business facilitation.
He added that programs like this cultural conference not only build friendship but also support bilateral trade and cooperation.
Opportunities Through Language Skills
The organization has successfully dubbed the Nepali movie “Hairan” into Chinese. It has also localized several Chinese TV series for Nepali audiences. These efforts have created jobs for Mandarin translators, voice actors, and even non-Mandarin speaking artists.
Students studying Chinese under Phonex Inspiration participate in monthly competitions to encourage language practice. These programs contribute to language immersion, boost confidence, and prepare students for future job markets linked to China–Nepal cooperation.
