Nepal’s commercial banks have earned close to Rs 48 billion in profit in the first ten months of the current fiscal year. The data was released by Nepal Rastra Bank and covers the period up to the end of Baisakh.
Nepal Commercial Banks Profits Report
Slight Drop In Overall Profit
Altogether, 20 commercial banks operating in Nepal earned a total profit of Rs 47.79 billion. Compared to the same period last year, profit dropped by 1.67%. Last year, banks had earned Rs 48.60 billion by Baisakh.
The decline in profit was due to limited credit disbursement, a rise in bad loans, and weak loan recovery. These factors affected the overall earnings.
Nabil Bank Tops The List
Nabil Bank earned the highest profit during the period. Its net profit stood at Rs 5.60 billion, up by 2.59% compared to last year’s Rs 5.46 billion.
Global IME Sees Impressive Growth
Global IME Bank came second in total profit. It earned Rs 5.35 billion, marking a 29.89% increase from last year’s Rs 4.12 billion. The bank made strong gains during this period.
Nepal Investment Mega Bank In Third Place
Nepal Investment Mega Bank earned Rs 5.02 billion. This represents a 33% increase compared to the same period last year. It secured the third position in total profit among all banks.
Nepal Bank Posts Highest Growth Rate
Nepal Bank showed the highest growth rate among all commercial banks. Its profit rose by 457%, reaching Rs 3.28 billion. The sharp rise helped the bank stand out in terms of performance.

Everest Bank earned Rs 3.90 billion
NMB Bank made Rs 2.62 billion
Prime Commercial Bank posted Rs 2.58 billion
Standard Chartered Bank earned Rs 2.34 billion
Laxmi Sunrise Bank made Rs 2.15 billion
Siddhartha Bank posted Rs 2.01 billion
Prabhu Bank earned Rs 2.00 billion
Sanima Bank made Rs 1.87 billion
Rastriya Banijya Bank posted Rs 1.77 billion

Several banks earned below Rs 2 billion but still contributed to the total profit figure:
Agricultural Development Bank earned Rs 1.73 billion
Nepal SBI Bank made Rs 1.38 billion
Machhapuchchhre Bank earned Rs 1.31 billion
Citizens Bank posted Rs 1.18 billion
Himalayan Bank earned Rs 683.4 million
Kumari Bank made Rs 481.9 million
NIC Asia Bank posted Rs 478.7 million
