The Nepal national cricket team is continuing its impressive tour of Australia with a challenging double T20 header against South Australia.
Nepal vs South Australia T20
This back-to-back clash on Thursday is a crucial opportunity for the Nepalese side to build on their momentum and test their skills against a strong Australian squad.
The first T20 match is scheduled for 5:15 a.m. NST, followed by the second at 9:15 a.m. NST. The games will provide a rigorous test of the team’s fitness and strategic depth.
Strong Start to the Australian Tour
Nepal has already shown its prowess during the tour. Earlier this week, the team secured two dominant victories against the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
In the first match, Nepal won by 41 runs, thanks to an outstanding performance by star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who claimed five wickets, including a hat-trick. The second game saw Nepal chase down the target with ease, winning by six wickets.
Bowlers Dipendra Singh Airee and Sahib Alam played key roles, sharing four wickets between them. These wins have significantly boosted the team’s confidence as they prepare for tougher opponents.
Upcoming ODI and ‘A’ Team Action
The action doesn’t stop here. Following the T20 matches, the Nepal cricket team will play a one-day international (ODI) against South Australia on Saturday at 5:15 a.m. NST.
This tour highlights Nepal’s commitment to developing its cricketing talent. The Nepal ‘A’ squad is simultaneously competing in a T20 series against Assam in India, providing valuable international exposure for emerging players.
With both the senior team and the ‘A’ squad in action, Nepalese cricket is making a significant mark on the international stage, aiming to climb higher in the world rankings and solidify its presence in the global cricketing community.
About Cricket Association of Nepal
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is the official governing body for the sport of cricket in the country. It was founded in 1946 and is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and a member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). CAN’s primary role is to manage and promote cricket at all levels, from grassroots development to the national team.
For a period, CAN faced suspension by the ICC due to government interference, but it was reinstated in October 2019. This reinstatement was a crucial step for Nepalese cricket, allowing the team to continue its progress on the international stage. Currently, Chatur Bahadur Chand serves as the President of CAN, and Paras Khadka is the Secretary. The organization is responsible for organizing domestic tournaments like the Nepal Premier League and overseeing the men’s and women’s national teams. CAN’s efforts have been vital in supporting the national team’s recent successes, including qualification for major tournaments and achieving ODI status.
