He said the entire ministry team is working actively to solve drinking water issues across the country. According to the minister, the government is focusing on projects that deliver real results.
“We are not just planning. We are working on actions that people can feel,” he said. “The government is committed to solving the problems people face every day.”
Drinking Water and Sanitation: See Progress
Minister Yadav shared that many halted or incomplete drinking water projects have been restarted. These include sites in both urban and rural areas. New projects are also being built.
He noted progress in water quality, access, and management. The ministry is taking steps to ensure that water systems are improved and made sustainable.
“Our main priority now is to provide clean drinking water to rural and Terai-Madhesh regions,” he said. “We are working closely with provincial and local governments to meet this goal.”
New Project to Benefit Over 15,000 People
The Siswa Maheshpur Drinking Water Project will serve wards 15, 26, and 27 of Kalaiya. The project is expected to benefit 15,565 people directly.
This information was shared by Bipul Kumar Das, Chief of the Federal Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Project Office in Birgunj. He said the project aims to make drinking water and sanitation services more accessible and reliable.
Minister Yadav called the project a “concrete step” toward fulfilling the local people’s long-held dream.
“Let’s work together to make the ‘Clean Water, Healthy Life’ campaign successful,” he added. “The progress of Maheshpur is our shared journey.”
Climate Change Creating New Challenges
Minister Yadav also spoke about the growing drinking water crisis in the Terai and hill regions. He highlighted the worsening situation in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, and nearby districts.
According to him, climate change is a major reason for this problem. In the past few years, the water table has declined in many Terai areas. Wells have dried up. Water sources are becoming less reliable.
“This has become a serious issue,” he said. “That’s why we’ve made it a top priority. We have already started working on solutions.”
