Delegation Led by NADA Vice President
The NADA delegation was led by Vice President Mr. Rajan Babu Shrestha. The meeting took place at the office of the Insurance Authority in Kathmandu. It aimed to explore solutions for ongoing challenges in electric vehicle insurance.
Rise of Electric Vehicles in Nepal
Electric vehicles are gaining popularity across Nepal. Government policies are encouraging the use of clean energy and sustainable transport. As a result, the demand for EV-friendly insurance policies is growing.
NADA believes insurance policies must evolve to support this shift. Dealers and customers face confusion and lack of clarity regarding coverage, premiums, and the valuation of EVs.
Key Discussion Points
Mr. Shrestha pointed out several problems in the current insurance model. He talked about difficulties in determining the right value of electric vehicles. He also raised concerns about battery coverage and after-sales insurance claims.
The NADA delegation urged the Authority to make insurance more flexible for EVs. They called for policies that consider the unique features of electric vehicles, especially the cost of batteries and maintenance.
Positive Response from the Insurance Authority
Chairman Sharad Ojha welcomed the concerns raised by NADA. He agreed that electric vehicles require a different insurance approach. Mr. Ojha assured the delegation that the Authority is working on solutions.
He also said that collaboration with stakeholders like NADA is important. The Insurance Authority wants to support innovation and green transport in Nepal.
Future Cooperation Promised
The meeting ended on a positive note. Both parties agreed to continue the dialogue in the future. They also promised to work together to improve the insurance policy framework.
NADA appreciated the openness shown by Mr. Ojha and his office. The association believes the meeting was a step forward in building a better EV insurance system.
Call for Media Support
NADA has requested national daily newspapers and online media platforms to highlight this discussion. The association believes public awareness is essential for policy improvement.
They hope that increased visibility will help bring insurance reforms for electric vehicles.
Conclusion
The discussion between NADA and the Nepal Insurance Authority marks a timely move toward improving EV-related insurance policies. With strong cooperation, Nepal can build a supportive ecosystem for electric mobility.
