29th September 2025, Kathmandu

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium witnessed another extraordinary chapter in the history of Nepalese cricket today. This monumental win, secured by a phenomenal all-round performance, establishes a new benchmark for the rising Rhinos and confirms their growing stature on the global cricketing stage.

The Batting Masterclass: Jora and Sheikh Steer the Ship

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Nepal faced early pressure, losing wickets cheaply. However, the innings was rebuilt by two stellar half-centuries that propelled Nepal to a formidable total of 173/6 in their 20 overs.

The key to the massive total was the record-breaking partnership between opener Aasif Sheikh and middle-order powerhouse Sundeep Jora.

Aasif Sheikh anchored the innings with a composed and stylish 68 runs off 47 balls, demonstrating maturity and technical skill against a Test nation’s bowling attack.

Sundeep Jora, continuing his fiery form, smashed a blistering 63 runs off just 39 balls, providing the much-needed acceleration in the middle overs.

Their century-plus stand pulled the team out of a precarious situation and set the West Indies a challenging target of 174 runs.

Bowling and Fielding: The Wall of Nepali Discipline

In their chase of 174, the West Indies batting lineup was completely dismantled by a combination of disciplined bowling and electrifying fielding from the Nepalese side. The two-time T20 World Champions were bowled out for a meager 83 runs, resulting in the enormous 90-run victory margin—Nepal’s largest ever against an ICC Full Member.

The Spin and pace attack hunted as a pack, ensuring the pressure never eased:

Kushal Bhurtel continued to be the surprise package, claiming exceptional figures of 2/17 in the first T20I, a performance which was followed up by another crucial spell to keep the pressure on.

The tight bowling of the spin trio choked the middle overs, a strategy that has proven highly effective on the slow Sharjah pitch.

The fielders were exceptional, executing sharp catches and crucial run-outs that capitalized on the increasing pressure on the West Indies batsmen.

A Series-Clinching, Historic Milestone

The 90-run demolition in the second T20I is more than just a victory; it is a historic series win for the Nepalese national team, marking their first-ever bilateral series triumph against a Test-playing nation.

Skipper Rohit Paudel and the entire squad have not just won a cricket series; they have delivered a source of immense pride and celebration for millions of Nepalese fans around the world, proving that associate cricket nations can compete and dominate on the world stage.
