Nepal Insurance Authority Reinsurance Discussion Boosts Nepal Insurance Sector Growth

On 19th Jestha 2082 (July 3, 2025), Nepal Insurance Authority held a discussion and interaction program on reinsurance. The event took place under the leadership of Chairman Sharad Ojha. This program aimed to strengthen dialogue among insurers, reinsurers, and brokers.

Opening And Presentations
The program began with a welcome speech by Shambharaj Lamichhane, Director of the Regulatory Division. After this, Deputy Director Ram Koju gave a presentation on reinsurance topics. He explained the current status, challenges, and opportunities in the reinsurance sector.
Next, CEOs from Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd. and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd. shared insights. They talked about their company’s work and the future of reinsurance in Nepal. Furthermore, the President of Nepal Insurers’ Association presented on the collective concerns and growth prospects of the insurance market.
Views From Insurance Associations And Authority Leaders
Representatives from the Life Insurers’ Association and Microinsurance Association gave their remarks. They discussed the needs and issues faced by their sectors. Moreover, Executive Director Sushil Dev Subedi of Nepal Insurance Authority shared his views. He emphasized the importance of cooperation to improve the insurance and reinsurance industries.
Chairman’s Closing Remarks And Interaction
During the final session, Chairman Sharad Ojha responded to questions raised during the event. He provided clear answers and encouraged the participants. Additionally, he presented tokens of appreciation to the presenters as a sign of goodwill.
