A new era for Nepal’s auto industry begins with the launch of the Nepal Automobiles Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), uniting top companies involved in vehicle import, manufacturing, and assembly.

The association aims to lead innovation, advocate progressive policies, and shape a modern mobility ecosystem in the country.
The group includes business leaders who were once part of the NADA Automobiles Association. On Wednesday, NAIMA held an official event in Kathmandu to introduce its leadership and board members.
Ritu Singh Vaidya, Managing Director of United Traders Syndicate, leads the association. Other founding board members include Suhridraj Ghimire, Shekhar Golchha, Saurabh Jyoti, Cabinet Shrestha, Hemanta Golchha, Sandeep Kumar Sarda, Nirakar Shrestha, Nikunj Agrawal, and Udayan Kawra.
At the same event, NAIMA announced a major initiative. It will organize the first Nepal Mobility Expo from Shrawan 21 to 25 (August 6–10, 2025). The expo aims to be Nepal’s biggest event focused on mobility and automotive innovation.
This announcement means Nepal will now have two major auto expos. The NADA Auto Show is set for Bhadra 3 (late August). Meanwhile, NAIMA’s Nepal Mobility Expo will happen earlier in the same month. It’s the first time such a division has taken place in Nepal’s auto sector.
NAIMA said its expo will promote electric vehicles, green transport, and smart mobility. The theme of the event is “Empowerment Through Mobility Growth.”
During the program, Ritu Singh Vaidya shared NAIMA’s broader vision. She said the group focuses on strategic advocacy, innovation, and inclusive growth. NAIMA wants to work with the government, private sector, and civil society.
“Our mission is to drive progress through advocacy and innovation,” Vaidya said. “We aim to shape an automotive ecosystem that supports mobility for all.”
She added that NAIMA plans to push for modern policies in the automotive industry. The group will also run education and awareness campaigns for the public. In addition, it hopes to promote road safety and infrastructure development.
NAIMA believes in a forward-thinking approach. It wants to empower people by making transportation more accessible. The group also wants to help Nepal prepare for future mobility needs.
In contrast, the upcoming NADA Auto Show will give priority to electric vehicles. NADA has already opened stall bookings. Many companies are expected to showcase the latest EVs and hybrid models.
With NAIMA stepping in, Nepal’s auto industry is entering a new era. Two major expos will now offer more opportunities for businesses and consumers. This change shows the growing interest in clean energy and smart transport.
As competition grows, both events could help boost awareness, encourage investment, and support innovation. NAIMA’s arrival signals a bold step forward in shaping the future of mobility in Nepal.
