Nepal Government Introduces International Card Payments for Revenue
In a significant move to modernize its financial systems, the Government of Nepal has officially started accepting international card payments for revenue collection. This new service was inaugurated on Thursday by Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal and Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, who launched the integration of “International Card Networks” into the Revenue Management Information System.
This initiative is set to greatly benefit two key groups: Nepalese citizens residing abroad and tourists visiting the country. They can now conveniently pay various government fees and taxes using widely used international cards such as MasterCard, Visa, and Alipay.
The initial rollout of this service is at the Department of Immigration, specifically for revenue services. This means that tourists arriving in Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport can now directly pay their required fees by card, eliminating the need for cash transactions.
This is expected to streamline the entry process and provide a more efficient experience for international visitors, marking a significant step towards a more digitally integrated and traveler-friendly Nepal.
