In a landmark achievement for Nepal’s healthcare sector, the country’s first-ever Stem Cell Research Center (NSCRC) has been established in Kathmandu.

This pioneering initiative is poised to transform medical research and treatment in the region, offering new hope to patients with a range of complex diseases.
The new center was founded under the leadership of Ujjwal Bhandari, Dr. Raghuram Bhandari, and Amod Sharma. It features a state-of-the-art laboratory designed for advanced research.
A primary goal of the NSCRC is to produce high-quality stem cells, which will be supplied to hospitals and doctors across the country for clinical use.

The NSCRC will focus on research and potential treatments for several critical health conditions, including:
Cancer

Diseases affecting the immune system
While the legal framework for stem cell therapy in Nepal is still under development, the center’s establishment is seen by health experts as a promising and proactive step.
