Located at around 2,300 meters above sea level in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, the new installation aims to improve connectivity for locals, pilgrims, and trekkers.

Boost for Pilgrims and Trekkers to Gosaikunda

The new 2G BTS is strategically positioned along the trekking route from Dhunche to Gosaikunda. This route, which passes through Deurali, Chandanbari, and Lauribinayak, attracts thousands of visitors annually, especially during Janai Purnima, when a grand fair takes place at the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, situated at 4,200 meters.

With the service in place, pilgrims and tourists can now enjoy mobile network access from Dhunche to Gosaikunda, ensuring better communication and safety during their journeys.

Future Plans for 4G Network Expansion

Nepal Telecom has also announced plans to expand 4G network coverage in high Himalayan regions. This expansion will further enhance mobile internet access, benefiting both residents and visitors to the area.

Supporting Remote and Rural Connectivity

The initiative aligns with the Government of Nepal’s policy to expand telecommunications services to rural and extremely remote areas. Despite the low financial returns and high infrastructure costs of such projects, Nepal Telecom remains committed to providing equal access to telecom services nationwide.

This effort will greatly benefit the residents of Chandanbari and nearby settlements, along with thousands of trekkers and pilgrims who visit Gosaikunda each year.

Nepal Telecom Milestones: Connecting Nepal’s Diverse Landscape

Nepal Telecom (NT), the backbone of Nepal’s telecommunication infrastructure, has achieved numerous significant milestones in its journey to connect the diverse geographical landscape of the nation. From its humble beginnings to becoming a dominant force, NT has consistently strived to bring communication to every corner, even the most remote and challenging terrains.

A key achievement includes the expansion of its mobile network, reaching remote areas like Rasuwa’s Chandanbari. The recent activation of a 2G BTS at 2,300 meters above sea level in Chandanbari, a vital point on the Gosaikunda trekking route, exemplifies NT’s commitment. This strategic move benefits not only the local Nepalese community but also pilgrims and tourists heading to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, ensuring connectivity from Dhunche to Gosaikunda.

Beyond basic connectivity, Nepal Telecom has been instrumental in introducing advanced technologies. The continuous upgrade from 2G to 3G and then to 4G services across the country has significantly improved internet access and mobile communication speeds. The future plan to expand 4G services to high-altitude Himalayan regions further demonstrates its dedication to serving all Nepalese, irrespective of their location.

Furthermore, NT’s commitment extends to its social responsibility, often venturing into areas with low commercial returns to ensure equitable access to telecommunication services. This aligns with the government’s policy of extending communication reach to underserved rural areas.

Nepal Telecom’s ongoing efforts to connect every Nepalese, enhance network quality, and embrace technological advancements solidify its position as a crucial pillar in the nation’s development and digital transformation.
