Nepal Telecom Goes Paperless: Online KYC Update Via QR Code Launched
8th January 2026, Kathmandu
In a major push toward a “Digital Nepal,” Nepal Telecom (NTC) has officially commenced the pilot testing of its Online KYC Update service.
Nepal Telecom Goes Paperless
This new feature allows GSM Prepaid users to update their customer details digitally by simply scanning a QR code, eliminating the need for manual paperwork.
The service was inaugurated at the Sundhara Telecommunications Office by NTC’s Chief Business Officer, Ganga Sagar Matanche, and Bagmati Province Director, Indal Yadav.
Bridging the Digital Gap: Why Online KYC Matters
For years, Nepalese telecom users had to fill out physical forms to correct names or update personal information. The new system is designed to streamline this process, making it faster, more secure, and environmentally friendly.
Key Benefits of the New System:
Paperless Convenience: No more physical forms; everything is handled via a digital link.
Time-Saving: Reduces the turnaround time for data verification and updates.
Enhanced Accuracy: System-based verification ensures that customer data is updated correctly and securely.
Digital Transformation: Aligns with NTC’s goal of becoming a fully digital service provider.
How the Online KYC Update Works
Currently, in its first phase of testing, the process is straightforward for customers visiting the Sundhara office:
Scan: Locate the official NTC QR code at the customer service desk.
Fill: Access the digital KYC link and enter the required details (Name, ID, etc.).
Verify: Submit the form for the NTC system to automatically verify and update your records.
Future Roadmap: KYC Updates from Home
While the pilot is currently limited to the Sundhara branch, Nepal Telecom has confirmed that this is just the beginning.
Expansion: Following a successful trial, the QR code facility will be rolled out across the Kathmandu Valley and then nationwide.
App & Web Integration: NTC is working on integrating this feature into the Nepal Telecom App and official website, which will eventually allow users to update their KYC from the comfort of their homes.
“This initiative will play a crucial role in making our services more customer-friendly and improving overall productivity through technology,” stated Director Indal Yadav during the launch.
