Nepal Telecom marked its 21st anniversary on January 4, 2025, with events held at its central office and regional centers across the country.

The central event took place under the leadership of Radhika Aryal, Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Chairperson of Nepal Telecom’s Board. The chief guest, Honorable Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, congratulated Nepal Telecom on its milestone and acknowledged the company as one of the most reputable public entities under government ownership. He highlighted the growing challenges in the telecommunications sector and urged the company to adapt to modern needs, especially through upgrading services like 4G across the nation.
Emphasizing Service and Expansion
Minister Gurung stressed that Nepal Telecom needs to improve its services and adapt to consumer demands. He urged the company to upgrade its services to stay competitive, emphasizing the importance of expanding 4G coverage. He also expressed the government’s commitment to revising telecommunications policies to support the company’s efficient operations.
Broadening Reach to Remote Areas
Radhika Aryal praised Nepal Telecom for its efforts in delivering services to Nepal’s most remote and hard-to-reach areas. She encouraged the company to diversify its services and adopt market strategies that meet the evolving needs of customers. Aryal expressed confidence that Nepal Telecom would contribute significantly to the government’s digitalization agenda while reducing the digital divide.
Future Vision and Improvements
Bhupendra Bhandari, Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, congratulated Nepal Telecom for its leadership in the telecom industry. He encouraged the company to continue innovating and improving its services while enhancing customer satisfaction to remain a market leader.
Expanding with New Technologies
Sangita Pahadi, Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, provided an overview of the company’s achievements, such as expanding 4G and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services. She highlighted the significant growth in customer numbers and the fact that mobile data usage now accounts for over 90% of the total consumption. Pahadi also shared that the company is working on enhancing its optical fiber network and introducing 5G technology.
Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
As part of its anniversary celebration, Nepal Telecom reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility. The company has supported education, healthcare, and environmental protection initiatives. For example, Nepal Telecom helped 200,000 students in remote areas by providing free online education during the SEE exams.
Honoring Employees and Partners
Nepal Telecom recognized top-performing employees and recharge card vendors during the anniversary event. Employees completing 20 years of service were awarded medals and certificates for their dedication.
New Services Unveiled
In addition, Nepal Telecom launched VoWiFi services and completed the upgrade of its network to fiber technology in Karnali Province. The company also expanded 4G coverage by setting up BTS stations in Surkhet and Dolpa.
