Nepal Thailand 8 MoUs: Tourism, Trade, Education, Healthcare Agreements Signed

Nepal and Thailand signed eight Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to Thailand. Two MoUs were signed at the government level, while six were between private and non-governmental organizations. The agreements aim to enhance cooperation in tourism, culture, trade, education, and healthcare.

Bilateral Meeting Before Signing
Before the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Oli met with his Thai counterpart, Paetongtarn Shinawatra. They discussed trade, investment, aviation, culture, tourism, and multilateral cooperation. Both leaders emphasized strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nepal and Thailand.
Government-Level Agreements
Nepal and Thailand signed two MoUs to enhance cultural and tourism cooperation.
Cultural Cooperation: Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Thailand’s Culture Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakitkosol signed an MoU on cultural exchange and promotion. This agreement aims to strengthen ties through joint cultural initiatives.
Tourism Cooperation: Dr. Deuba and Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, signed an MoU to boost tourism. The agreement focuses on marketing, training programs, and knowledge sharing between tourism sectors.
Private Sector and Non-Governmental Agreements
Six MoUs were signed to encourage collaboration in business, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Eye Care Collaboration: Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Thailand’s Mahidol University’s Ramathibodi Hospital signed an agreement to develop eye care services. Prof. Dr. Chet Raj Pant and Prof. Artit Ungkanan led the signing.
Agriculture and Forestry Partnership: Janata Agro & Forestry Nepal (JAFL) and Thailand’s Kasetsart University signed an MoU to cooperate in agriculture research, forestry, and technology exchange.
Trade and Business Cooperation: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Thai Chamber of Commerce & Board of Trade agreed to promote business partnerships and trade growth.
Education and Research Exchange: Kathmandu University and Thailand’s Siam University signed an MoU to collaborate on research, student exchange programs, and academic development.
Industry Cooperation: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Federation of Thai Industries signed an agreement to strengthen industrial partnerships and investment.
Trade and Tourism Promotion: Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Thailand Tourism Council signed an MoU to expand trade and tourism between the two countries.
Stronger Ties Between Nepal and Thailand
These agreements highlight Nepal and Thailand’s commitment to long-term cooperation. The MoUs will help in cultural exchange, economic growth, and educational development. Prime Minister Oli’s visit has further strengthened diplomatic relations between the two nations.
