Nepal Weather Update September 16, 2025: Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Five Provinces

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall in several provinces of Nepal as the monsoon trough remains near its average position, fueled by moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

According to the latest weather update, this afternoon the country will experience partly to generally cloudy skies, with chances of moderate rainfall in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, including hilly regions and scattered areas elsewhere.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
For tonight, the Department has forecast partly to generally cloudy conditions nationwide. Moderate rainfall is expected in Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in hilly areas and other scattered regions. Additionally, Koshi and Sudurpaschim Provinces may experience heavy rainfall at one or two locations.

The Department has urged the public to remain cautious in areas prone to floods, landslides, and rising river levels due to the possibility of heavy downpours in the coming hours. Travelers and residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
