Nepali youth living in Australia have launched a mobile application to help fellow Nepalese living abroad. The app, named ‘Bhetcha’, is designed to provide essential support and local information to migrants facing difficulties in their new environment.

Nabin Sapkota, a resident of Lankhu, Chitwan, is the key person behind this innovation. He has been working in the IT sector in Melbourne for the past two years. Together with Nirajan Kandel from Nepal and Ashish Pangeni from the USA, Sapkota developed this app to help Nepali migrants adjust to life in Australia.
They named the app ‘Bhetcha’, which means “can be found.” It is meant to offer everything a Nepali might need while living abroad—from job information to accommodation, education, and health services.
Inspired by Personal Challenges
The team came up with the idea after facing problems themselves. When they first arrived in Australia, they struggled due to a lack of accessible information. These early experiences motivated them to build a platform that would solve such problems for others.
Sapkota said, “We decided to create an app that brings together all the daily-life information that Nepalese need in one place.” After several discussions, they began work on the project and launched it three months ago. Now, it’s helping thousands.
A One-Stop Social Platform
The app works like a social network. Users can post questions, share problems, and offer help, just like on Facebook. But unlike typical social apps, Bhetcha focuses on practical issues faced by migrants.
People can find information about housing, job vacancies, public transportation, driving licenses, and more. It helps users explore their surroundings and connect with others who might have answers.
Official Recognition and Public Launch
Bhetcha App is officially recognized by the Australian government, making it secure and reliable for users. It already has over 4,000 active users and continues to grow in popularity.
The app was launched in Melbourne on March 19, 2025, in a special program. Former Deputy Speaker of Nepal and current Ambassador to Australia Chitralekha Yadav, along with businessman Shesh Ghale, inaugurated the app during the event.
Easy Access to Key Services
Many Nepalis in Australia face problems due to unfamiliar systems and processes. Bhetcha makes it easier by providing everything in one place. The app supports Nepalis in finding rental rooms, planning trips, understanding healthcare options, and more.
According to Sapkota, “The app has helped many Nepalis avoid difficult situations. They can now get key information right from their phones, without wasting time.”
Built by a Global Nepali Team
The development team is spread across three countries. Sapkota manages operations and marketing in Australia. Pangeni, a computer engineer, works from the USA. Kandel, an IT engineer, supports the app from Nepal.
Each of them plays a specific role in maintaining and expanding the platform. They believe teamwork and shared responsibility are the reasons behind the app’s early success.
Future Expansion Plans
Currently, Bhetcha is active in Australia and the USA. The team is working to expand it to Canada, the UK, and New Zealand. These countries also have large Nepali communities.
The founders hope to reach more regions within two years. Their aim is to make Bhetcha a trusted app for Nepalese worldwide.
“We are focusing on countries where the Nepali population is growing fast,” said Sapkota. “Eventually, we want every Nepali abroad to use this app as their daily support system.”

The app has already made a strong impact. Users rely on it to get verified and helpful information. Unlike random advice on social media, the app filters content to keep it practical and relevant.
The creators hope that every Nepali uses Bhetcha as a tool for support and empowerment. They continue to update the platform based on user feedback and growing needs.
