This decision was made during the ASOCIO’s annual general meeting and conference held recently in Japan.

“Nawaraj Kunwar Re-elected as Vice President of ASOCIO, Strengthening Nepal’s ICT Representation on the Global Stage”

Kunwar had previously served as the Vice President of ASOCIO from 2022 and held the position of Vice President during the 2020-2024 term. Following his re-election, Kunwar expressed that his efforts to establish Nepal’s presence on the international stage have been further invigorated.

Kunwar shared, “I have been working towards establishing Nepal in the global ICT arena. Through ASOCIO, we can build a strong technological ecosystem in Asian countries, positioning Nepal in the global ICT sector. This will open new opportunities for innovation, growth, and international collaboration. I believe this will also reduce the technological gap between developing and underdeveloped nations in Asia.”

The newly elected executive committee of ASOCIO is led by President Stan Singh, with representatives from Malaysia, Nepal, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Myanmar, and Japan from the ICT sector organizations.

CAN Federation President Ranjeet Kumar Poddar congratulated Kunwar on his re-election, expressing confidence that his active leadership would play a pivotal role in promoting Nepal’s digital economy. “Kunwar’s representation at ASOCIO will support our collective efforts to make ICT accessible and drive the growth of a prosperous Nepal through digital and technological advancements,” said Poddar.

CAN Federation General Secretary Chiranjibi Adhikari highlighted the importance of Kunwar’s leadership in enhancing Nepal’s recognition in the international tech community. “Nepal’s strong presence in international forums like ASOCIO will foster technology collaboration with Asian and Oceanian countries. This will bring significant benefits to Nepal in terms of technological exchange and growth,” he added.

In addition to ASOCIO, the CAN Federation is affiliated with various international organizations. Recently, CAN President Ranjit Kumar Poddar was unanimously elected Treasurer of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), a global umbrella organization representing ICT entities from 84 countries. This further emphasizes Nepal’s growing influence in the global ICT landscape.
